MS. BRENDA BREWER

The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: He leadeth me beside the still waters. Psalms 23:1-2.

These words describe Ms. Brenda Rose Brewer’s love of God, family, church, friends, community and country. Born the daughter of the late Mr. Tommie Brewer, Sr. and Mrs. Marolee Jacobs Brewer. They instilled in Brenda the importance of God and a close-knit family.  She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers: Mr. Tommy Brewer, Jr. and Mr. Carl E. Brewer; a sister: Mrs. Margaret B. Bell and a sister-in-law: Mrs. Mary Jane Brewer.

Ms. Brenda Rose Brewer entered into rest on Friday, February 11, 2022 Morrison Manor in Laurinburg, NC. She was born on June 25, 1950 and graduated from Pembroke High School in 1968.  Immediately her career began in manufacturing, which included Crandall and Abbott Laboratories. Also, she worked at Lumbee Guaranty Bank in Pembroke as one of the first tellers.  Ms. Brenda graduated from Fayetteville Technical Community College in 2005.  Her final employment was with Hallmark Cards until retiring in October 2021.

Ms. Brenda’s early Christian walk included Sunday School Teacher and a member of the church choir. She loved her church family at Macedonia Holiness Methodist Church and was a faithful member.  She was an outstanding cook which her family enjoyed so much. Also, she was a proud member of the Lumbee Tribe and loved attending the Lumbee Homecoming parade.

Ms. Brewer is survived by her daughter: Mrs. Kimberly S. Oxendine(Brock) of Lumberton and a son: Mr. Matthew Shoemake of Pembroke; a brother: Mr. James W. Brewer(Shirley) of Laurel Hill; two sisters: Ms. Evelyn B. Gelis of Palatka, FL and Ms. Ann B. Pevia of Red Springs and sister-in-law: Ms. Rosie Brewer of Maxton; several nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, grand-nephews, cousins and a host of other relatives and friends to cherish her memories.

The funeral will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, February 16, 2022, at Pembroke Gospel Chapel, 406 North Jones Street, Pembroke, NC, with the Revs: Roman Lowery and Anthony Chavis officiating. Burial will follow in the Macedonia Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12-1 p.m. prior to services at the church.
