Mr. Samuel R. Locklear Sr., 88, of 940 Union Chapel Road, was born July 13, 1928 and departed this life on Monday, June 19, 2017. He is preceded in death by his parents: Mr. Luther H. and Mrs. Pattie Hunt Locklear; one daughter: Mrs. Linda Mae Vanderpoole; and a brother: Mr. Alvin John Mercer.
The funeral will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 24, 2017, at Pembroke Gospel Chapel with Bro. Charles W. Oxendine officiating. Burial will follow in the Lumbee Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Locklear leaves to cherish his memory his wife: Mrs. Katrina Locklear of the home; two sons: Mr. Samuel R. Locklear Jr. of Denver, Colorado and Mr. Stuart R. Locklear of the home; a daughter: Mrs. Carol Locklear(Richard Tucker) of Ellicott City, Maryland; two sisters: Ms. Helen Wadford and Ms. Maureen Reagan; two brothers: Mr. Larry Jones and Mr. Guy Carter; three grandchildren and several great-grandchildren; a lifetime friend: Dr. Martin Brooks; a loyal and trusted employee: Ms. Danelle Locklear; and a host of relatives and friends.
The family will receive friends from 6-9 p.m. Friday, June 23, 2017, at Locklear & Son Funeral Home.
