Mr. Grady Harold Barnes, 63, of Country Square Mobile Home Park, Wilkesboro, NC, formerly of Fairmont, NC, was called home to be with the Lord on Thursday, February 23, 2017, at Wilkes Regional Medical Center. He was born December 26, 1953 to the late Mr. James Alfred Barnes & Ms. Leacy Jones, he was also preceded in death by his grandparents: Mr. Ezra & Mrs. Retha Barnes.
Mr. Grady worked at Fleetwood of Pembroke, NC for a number of years. Later, he moved to Wilkesboro and worked in masonry and concrete. His quality of worked proved evident throughout the Wilkesboro, Charlotte and surrounding areas through businesses and individual homes. He also developed a skill in carpentry, building gun cabinets and other constructions.
The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, February 26, 2017, at Locklear & Son Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in the Tribal Mound Cemetery in Pembroke. A memorial service will be held Sunday, March 5, 2017, at Wilkesboro Civic Center, 1241 School Street Wilkesboro, NC.
Surviving are his son: Mr. Christopher Shawn Barnes(Heather) of Gastonia; two daughters: Ms. Larissa DeAnn Barnes of Wilkesboro and Mrs. Monica Leigh Poe(Troy) of Tucson, Arizona; seven sisters: Ms. Annie Lois Cummings of Crownsville, MD, Ms. Phyllis Gilroy of Wilkes Barre, PA, Ms. Yvonne Dial of Pembroke, Ms. Alfreda Williamson of Lexington, SC, Ms. Carolyn Jones and Ms. Cynthia Jackson of Hope Mills and Ms. Lynn Cummings of St. Pauls; three brothers: Mr. Jimmy Jones of Hope Mills, Mr. Anthony Jackson of Jacksonville and Mr. Israel Jackson of Fayetteville; four grandchildren: Graylen Edward Barnes, Calyssa LeAnn Little, Connor Newton Church and Nemiah Rose Poe and a host of family and friends.
The family will receive friends from 1-2 p.m. Sunday, February 26, 2017, at Locklear & Son Funeral Home.
