Ms. Margaret Locklear Britt, 61, better known as “Dooda” to those who knew her best, of 2126 Foley Road Orrum, was born September 6, 1956 and departed this life on Saturday, October 21, 2017. She was the baby, being the last born of 10 children to Mr. Floyd and Mrs. Margaret Locklear. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by a brother: Mr. Jackie Locklear, and three sisters: Ms. Joyce Marie Locklear, Ms. Deanna L. Hunt, and Ms. Lucy Ann Locklear.
The funeral will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday, October 29, 2017, at Bakers Chapel Baptist Church with Rev. Lindbergh Chavis and Pastor Brian Jacobs officiating. Burial will follow in the Whitehill Church Cemetery.
She is survived by her two children, whom she was very proud of, Mr. Sebastian Locklear and wife Mrs. Angie of Maxton, and daughter Mrs. Erica McMillan and husband Mr. Ricky of Pembroke, as well as her four precious grandchildren: Dwayne O’Ryan McMillan, Derian Chandler McMillan, Macie Shaw Locklear, and Myah Shay Locklear. In addition, she is survived by her three brothers, Mr. RL and wife Mrs. Lillie of Maxton, Mr. John R. and wife Mrs. Verdice, and Rev. Stilton and wife Mrs. Barbara, all of Fairmont; three sisters, Ms. Betty Lee Oxendine of Maxton, Mrs. Margie Ann Hunt and husband Mr. Kenneth of Fairmont, and Mrs. Jeannie Freeman and husband Rev. Clyde of Maxton, as well as a host of nieces and nephews who loved her dearly. Furthermore, she leaves behind her longtime companion, Mr. Earl Hunt of Orrum and a host of relatives and friends.
The family will receive friends from 1-2 p.m. Sunday, October 27, 2017, at Bakers Chapel Baptist Church.
