Ms. Lucia was a uniquely determined woman that wasn’t afraid of hard work; she despised “lazy people”. She left home at age 17 and moved to the then thriving city of Detroit and worked in various positions. In 1975, she moved to Sarasota, Florida. In 1980 as a single woman, she completed cosmetology school and opened a successful salon at Southgate Plaza before moving to Beneva Village Plaza. In 1990 inspired by her brother, Bob, she bought 4 acres of property on Ashton Rd. upon which was built Ashton Place Assisted Living which opened in 1996. As were her wishes, she passed peacefully at Ashton Place. We will all miss you!
The family will receive friends from 2-3 p.m. Sunday, September 11, 2022, at Elrod Baptist Church.
I express my most sincere condolences to the family and friends of Ms. Lucia Finerty. May God give you comfort and peace to help ease the pain of your loss.
