Ms. Carolyn Evon Hunt

Ms. Carolyn Evon Hunt, 65, of 39 Archie Fairella Road, was born on September 25, 1952 to Mrs. Lizzie Jane Locklear and the late Mr. Kermit Hagans. She was called to her heavenly home on Sunday, July 22, 2018. The funeral will be 3:00 p.m. Thursday, July 26, 2018, at Mt. Airy Baptist Church with the Revs: Adrian Hammonds, George Locklear and Dr. Michael Cummings officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Airy Church Cemetery. Ms Hunt leaves to cherish her memory: her daughter: Ms. Loriel Hunt Lowery of the home; her son: Mr. Drake Hunt of Lumberton; her grandchildren: Hunter Lowery, Kennedy Lowery and Hailey Hunt. She is also survived by her mother: Ms. Lizzie Jane Locklear; her siblings: Ms. Jan Cook, Mr. Alton Hagans(Ann), Mrs. Elayne Wilson(Woody) and Mr. Glenn Hagans(Shawuna); a host of relatives and friends and the father of her children, lifelong friend and former husband: Mr. Kenneth Hunt. Ms. Evon worked as an administrative professional at the Robeson County Sheriff Department and the Department of Social Services from which she retired. After retirement, she worked as a substitute teacher with the Public Schools of Robeson County. But Ms. Evon found her greatest joy in simply being a daughter, sister, mom, nana, aunt, cousin and friend. Family was priority to Evon, and she showed her love through cooking for them. Her mother said, “Evon is the next best cook to my own mother and my mother was a stomp-down good cook.” Ms. Evon enjoyed decorating for the holidays, shopping and gardening. Her well-maintained yard and home was a testament of the classy life she led. Ms. Evon’s life was truly blessed and those who loved her certainly feel a void that will never be filled. The family will receive friends from 1-3 p.m. Thursday, July 26, 2018, at Mt. Airy Baptist Church.
