MS. BERTHA LOCKLEAR

Ms. Bertha Locklear, 89, is a beloved mother, granny, and sister and was born in Robeson County, on December 7, 1933 and went to her heavenly home on Monday, December 19, 2022. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband of forty-seven years: Mr. Wilbur Stanford Locklear; parents: Mr. Gus and Mrs. Josephine Locklear; brothers: Mr. Eberts, Mr. Edsel, Mr. Prentis, Mr. Gus Jr., Mr. Gary Wayne, Mr. Lockwood; her daughter: Ms. Lori Locklear Jones and a granddaughter: Tracie Locklear.

The funeral will be 1 p.m. Friday, December 23, 2022 at Sandy Plains United Methodist Church with Revs. Dr. Robert Mangum and Earney Hammons officiating. Burial will follow in the Locklear Family Cemetery.

Ms. Bertha is survived by her sisters: Ms. Mary Frances, Mrs. Patsy (Russell), Ms. Sara Elizabeth; one brother: Mr. Eddie Mack; her sons: Mr. Stanphane (Yvonne) and Mr. Trent (Donna) of Pembroke, a son-in-law: Mr. James A. “Jim” Jones of Dillon S.C., grandchildren: Trenita, Trenia, Brittni and Stanphane Joshua; eight great grandchildren and a special friend: Ms. Jeanette C. Locklear.

The family will receive friends from 12-1 p.m. Friday, December 23, 2022 at Sandy Plains United Methodist Church.

Ms. Bertha was an educator with the Robeson County schools for 30 plus years. She enjoyed cooking for her family, and loved gatherings at her brother Lock’s home. She was a talented seamstress, crocheted, and loved quilting.  You were loved by Ms. Bertha because she always had something home-made to give you on your visits.  Above all, Mrs. Bertha loved her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
