Mrs. Myrna Loy Chavis, 77, of 556 Philadelphus Rd. Pembroke, NC was born April 18, 1941 and departed this life on Sunday, December 23, 2018. She is preceded in death by her parents: Mr. William Berry and Mrs. Pearlie Cummings Strickland; two sisters: Mrs. Annie Jean Hudson (Chuck) and Ms. Mildred Strickland. The Funeral services will be3:00 p.m. Friday, December 28, 2018 at Bear Swamp Baptist Church with Revs: Mike Cummings, Dr. Glenn Harris, Chester Chavis, Tim Chavis and Dr. Carolyn Worriax officiating. Burial will follow in the Bear Swamp Cemetery. “QUEEN” Myrna was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend to many and loved by all who knew her. She was a dedicated cook for her family, friends and Bakers Chapel church family. Her ministry was fulfilled through her hands in the kitchen amongst family and friends. She was a die-hard Carolina basketball lover, never a game she didn’t find. Mrs. Myrna was blessed with a wonderful family. Leaving to cherish her memories is her husband of 56 years: Rev. Lindbergh Chavis; one son: Mr. Patrick Glenn Chavis of the home; two daughters Ms. Tina Lynne Chavis-Burns and Mrs. Kristy Devone Chavis-Jacobs (Malcolm) of the plantation; four brothers: Rev. Jimmy Strickland (Brenda), Rev. Marshall Strickland (Elaine), Mr. Craymon Strickland (Nancy), Mr. Vernon Strickland (Robin) all of Pembroke; three sisters: Mrs. Celeste “Tack” Bullard (Evans), Mrs. Donna “Fay” Jacobs (Jimmie) both of Maxton and Ms. Lina Kay Strickland of Pembroke; six grandchildren; three great grandchildren; as well as a host of family and friends. Special thanks to Fresenius Kidney Care of Pembroke, Healthkeeperz Hospice Care, and Nahaven Lowry, RN, BSN. The family will receive friends from 1-3 p.m. Friday, December 28, 2018 at Bear Swamp Baptist Church.
