Mrs. Betty Deese Strickland, 86, of 227 Kelvin Circle, Rowland was born November 30, 1934 and departed this life on Wednesday, September 22, 2021, at UNC Health Southeastern. She was preceded in death by her parents: Mr. Charlie & Mrs. Elizabeth Deese; her son: Mr. Marshall Deese; brothers: Mr. Haynes Deese, Mr. Bradford Deese, Mr. Johnny Deese and Mr. Albert Deese; sisters: Mrs. Elester Barnes, Mrs. Bessie Strickland, Mrs. Mabel Smith, Mrs. Lula Locklear and Mrs. Eula Maynor.
The funeral will be 4 p.m. Friday, September 24, 2021, at Pentecostal Church of Christ with the Revs: Jimmy Strickland and Thurman Scott officiating. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery.
She leaves to cherish her memories: her husband, Mr. Silas Strickland, Jr. of the home; her son Harold Deese (Glenda) of Maxton; her step-daughter, Mrs. Samantha Lester (Mike)of Rowland; eight grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren, & one great-great grandchild. Mrs. Betty lived to see five generations.
Mrs. Betty touched many lives in many different ways, whether through meals at her table, talks in her living room or on the telephone, fellowship at church or through her prayers lifted up for family and friends. She held many titles: Wife, Mother, Granny, Great Grandmother, Great-Great Grandmother, Sister, but her most important title was Child of God.
The family will receive friends from 3-4 p.m. Friday, September 24, 2021, at Pentecostal Church of Christ.
