MRS. ANITA FAY JONES

     Mrs. Anita Fay Jones, 57, of Maxton, NC was born on February 15, 1966 in Scotland County to the late Mr. William “Bill” and Mrs. Pearlie Ree Oxendine. She entered her heavenly home on Monday, December 4, 2023. Anita left behind her loving and hardworking husband: Mr. Brent Jones; two beautiful, loving daughters: Dr. Solita Bergelt (Court) and Ms. Brentisha Jones (Ryan); her only grandchild: Sterling Bergelt; one sister: Mrs. Shelia Locklear Wallace (Andy); three brothers: Mr. William Reese Oxendine (Dr. Starlet), Mr. David Ray Oxendine, and Mr. Billy Gene Oxendine; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, family and friends.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday, December 8, 2023 at Antioch Missionary Baptist Church with Revs. Fredrick Locklear, Dufrene Cummings and Phillip Locklear officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Anita’s strength, dedication and faith in the Lord was the glue that held her family together. Anita was a devoted educator for nearly two decades. She was proud of her humble beginnings and her academic success. She was a devoted member of Antioch Missionary Baptist Church. Anita was very selfless and always putting others before herself. No matter what obstacle she was faced with, Anita never complained because “she was blessed”. Her idea of the perfect Christmas gift was spending time with her family. She was her happiest self when she was surrounded by the ones she loved. Anita loved singing with her sister Shelia and rejoicing with her church members as well as adventurous fellowship. Anita truly was an angel here on earth for those who knew her.

The family will receive friends from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. Thursday, December 7, 2023 at Antioch Missionary Baptist Church.

    I’ve known Anita for quiet a few years. No matter what she was going through she still gave God all the praise for taking care of her. She would say Praise God for things. You could see the love of God she had. She and Brent were such a good couple, and they also loved the Lord.
