Mrs. Alice Baculik

Mrs. Alice Dale Strickland Baculik, 83, of Lumberton, was born November 4, 1934 in Robeson County, NC, and departed this life on Friday, February 16, 2018. She attended Pembroke State University and graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in 1959. Soon after she moved to Great Neck Long Island, NY with her sister, Ms. Annie Liz Strickland in search of gainful employment. She met Joseph Baculik in the late fiftes and married. She remained on Long Island and started a family. She became a dedicated wife and loving mother for many years until she decided to work for Long Island Developmental Center, embracing the physical and mentally challenged children of the region for 32 years. While employed at LIDC she attended C.W. Post University and obtained a masters degree in Education in 1988. Upon retirement she and her husband traveled to many foreign destinations, a life fully lived. She is survived by her two sons: Mr. Andre Baculik of North Myrtle Beach, SC and Mr. Joseph Baculik of Lumberton; her daughter: Ms. Janine Baculik and her fiancé Jimmy Hedgpeth of Lumberton; two step children: Mr. Charles Baculik of Inverness Florida and Ms. Margret Moore of Richmond Virginia; three grandchildren: Michael Burke of Davenport, FL, Stacie Marie Morris of Martinez, GA Alison Baculik (Robert Scott) of Lumberton and Dylan Moccio; six step grandchildren: Jessica, CJ, Meagan, Emily, Eric and Christina; three great-grandchildren: Damien, Raymond and Eliza; four step great-grandchildren: Gage, Chirma, Christina, Bryson and Sadie; four brothers: Romuel, Rufus, Luke and Richard; two sisters: Shelby and Virginia; and a host of relatives and friends. The funeral will be 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, February 20, 2018, at Locklear & Son Funeral Home with the Rev. Lindbergh Chavis officiating. Burial will follow in the Bakers Chapel Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1-2 p.m. Tuesday, February 20, 2018, at Locklear & Son Funeral Home.
