Mr. Roy C. Oxendine

Mr. Roy C. Oxendine, 90, was born December 24, 1928 and went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, December 29, 2018. He was a member of Union Chapel Holiness Methodist Church for 62 years. Mr. Roy served in the Army. He was a builder, an avid golfer as well as a faithful deer hunter. He retired from LOF glass plant after 19 years of service. He deeply loved helping and supervising people in the community. The funeral will be 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, January 2, 2019 at Union Chapel Holiness Methodist Church with Revs. Chris Miller and Dufrene Cummings officating. Burial will follow in the Maynor Cemetery. Mr. Oxendine is preceded in death by his parents: Mr. Lockey and Mrs. Nancy Oxendine; one granddaughter: Tonya Nicole Oxendine; three sons: Mr.Roy Mitchell (infant son), Mr. Roy Randall, and Mr. Timothy Drake Oxendine; five brothers: Mr. Roosevelt, Mr. Russell, Mr. Grover, Mr. Grady and Mr. John Hugh Oxendine; one sister: Mrs. Veola Oxendine Locklear. Mr. Oxendine leaves behind to honor his memory his wife of 69 years: Mrs. Mildred Maynor Oxendine; two sons: Mr. Stephen Oxendine of the home and Mr. Chester “Skip” Sutherland of Wagram; special friends: Mr. Willie & Mrs. Anita Locklear of Pembroke; two daughters: Ms. Nancy Jill Oxendine of Pembroke and Ms. Valerie Joy DiFranco of the home; two brothers: Mr. Henry Ward Oxendine(Sandra) and Mr. Alonzo Oxendine(Carol), both of Pembroke; sixteen grandchildren; twenty-eight great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind a great number of nieces, nephews, family and friends. The family will receive friends from 7 – 9 p.m. Tuesday, January 1, 2019 at Locklear & Son Funeral Home.
