Mr. Philip Ray Locklear, Sr. 74, of Pembroke, was born on June 28, 1948 and departed this life on Thursday, March 9, 2023. He is preceded in death by his parents: Mr. Otis Locklear and Ms. Daphina Brooks; a sister: Ms. Macy Godwin and brother: Mr. Thaniel Locklear.
The funeral will be 4 p.m. Thursday, March 16, 2023 at Prospect United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in the Bear Swamp Church Cemetery.
He retired from thirty-one years at General Motors and moved back to Pembroke in 1997.
Mr. Locklear is survived by his oldest child: Ms. Phylis Lynn Locklear; only son: Mr. Philip Ray Locklear, Jr.(Becky) and baby girl: Ms. April Marie Locklear of Detroit; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two brothers: Mr. Alan Kendall Locklear and Mr. Perry Marcus Locklear; three sisters: Ms. Velenda Morgan, Ms. Diane Locklear and Ms. Denise Hunt; and a real good and close friend: Mr. Don Joey Locklear. They spent a lot of time going places together.
The family will receive friends from 3-4 p.m. Thursday, March 16, 2023 at Prospect United Methodist Church.
