Mr. Neal Ray Jones, age 72, of Pembroke, North Carolina, formerly of Dunn, passed away on Monday November 3, 2025. He was preceded in death by his parents: Mr. Neal and Mrs. Susanna Jones; sisters: Ms. Paulette Deese and Ms. Junellen Strickland; and sister-in-law: Mrs. Anita Jones.
The funeral will be 3 p.m. Thursday, November 6, 2025, at Burnt Swamp Baptist Church with the Revs: Keith Long and Jason Williams officiating. Burial will follow in the White Hill Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery.
Mr. Neal is survived by his daughter: Mrs. Jodella Locklear (Joey); his sons: Mr. Joshua Emanuel Jones and Mr. Jacob Ethan Jones; brothers: Mr. Randy Jones (Teresa) and Mr. Johnny “Brent” Jones; sister: Mrs. Pam Lowery (Marcus); grandson: Jaylen Lamark Locklear; granddaughter: Jahna Lynn Locklear; and special friend: Mr. Rick Lashmit.
Following three honorable years of service as a Sergeant and paratrooper with the U.S. Army’s 82nd Airborne Division, Neal dedicated 30 years to a successful career as a civil engineer with CP&L, where he took great pride in his work and achievements. With a meticulous eye for detail and a talent for practical problem-solving, he earned the admiration and respect of colleagues and friends alike.
Neal had a love for travel and a passion for classic cars. While his adventurous spirit took him to many places, he always cherished the time spent with family and friends. He was also a proud founding member of the Triangle Native American Society, reflecting his commitment to community and heritage. He often joked that he was the “good-looking uncle” among his nieces and nephews and the “good-looking brother” among his siblings. His generosity and determination left a lasting mark on all who knew him.
The family will receive friends from 2-3 p.m. Thursday, November 6, 2025, at Burnt Swamp Baptist Church.
