Mr. Luther “Frog” Winford Locklear, Jr., of 510 Blossom Drive, was born May 22, 1947. Mr. Locklear had been recently diagnosed with stage four malignant sarcoma of the soft and connective tissues. Following this devastating diagnosis, his wife, whom is clothed with dignity and strength, remained by his side until the good Lord called him home to his final resting place. After a brave and trying battle, he tragically died inside the home Tuesday, October 18th, 2022, at the age of 75. He was preceded in death by both his parents: Rev. Luther Winford Locklear Sr. & Dorothy Fields Locklear.
The funeral will be 1 p.m. Saturday, October 22, 2022 at Mt. Airy Baptist Church with Revs. Kelvin Locklear and Michael Cummings officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Mr. Locklear was survived by his beautiful wife: Mrs. Lenora Locklear, to whom he was married since May 4th, 1968; three children: Mr. Truckee Locklear (Ann), Mr. Otoma Locklear (Phyllis), Ms. Mary Gene Shelton, M.J. (Shawn); three grand-children: Ayron Locklear, Avanti Nicholle Locklear, and Arya “Moosie” Jordyn Strickland; three siblings: Mr. Larry Dean Locklear, Mr. Randy Jerome Locklear, Ms. Ida Rae Mollo; his cousins: Mrs. Janet Demory Vance-Thompson, Mrs. Kay “Kay-Bird” Locklear, Mr. Tony Locklear; his best friends: Mr. Melton “Mell T” Clark, Mr. Charles Carter, Mr. Joseph “Joe Jr.” Locklear Jr.; a nephew: Larry Locklear (Kelly); along with many other special nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Mr. Locklear was a well-respected supervisor at Converse for 34 years. Throughout his retirement he enjoyed farming, fishing, and camping with his wife, Mrs. Lenora. He spent as many precious moments as possible with his grandchildren, whom he adored with all his heart.
The family will receive friends from 12-1 Saturday, October 22, 2022 p.m. at Mt. Airy Baptist Church.
