Mr. John “Bubbie” Stanton Hunt, Jr., 70, of 2108 Stedman Drive departed this life on Monday, May 31, 2021 at his sister’s home. He was born January 4, 1951. He was the son of the late Mr. Stanton and Mrs. Sylvester Hunt. He is preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers: Master Britton and Mr. Charles “Charlie” Hunt.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday, June 3, 2021 at Locklear & Son Funeral home Chapel with Revs. Clyde Freeman, Edward Brooks and Bro. Timmy Locklear officiating. Burial will follow in the Willards Chapel Cemetery.
Mr. Hunt is survived by one son: Mr. Kenneth Locklear; two daughters: Ms. Kendra Locklear (Jr.) and Ms. Katie Locklear; three brothers: Mr. James “Albert” Hunt (Linda), Mr. Clint Hunt and Mr. David Hunt all of Maxton; two sisters: Mrs. Karen Hunt (Dexter) and Ms. Sally Strickland; five grandchildren: Shaliho, Margaret, Landon, London, and Nirian; two great-grandchildren; a special great niece: Madelynn Kay Bullard and a host of nieces and nephews that he loved and they loved him. He helped raise them all. Bubbie was a wonder family member and friend to all.
He was one of the first members of Evans Crossroads Fire Department. He retired from Eaton Corporation and up until his sickness he worked as a site manager with Robeson County Waste (Alma).
He was one that would give the shirt off his back to a stranger. His battle with serious medical issues in recent years showed his courage in facing life challenges with a smile. Despite the pain Bubbie came out a hero and stayed strong until the end.
The family will receive friends from 1-2 p.m. Thursday, June 3, 2021 at Locklear and Son Funeral Home.
