I met Gilbert when he returned to UNCP from working on his PhD in Arkansas. His guidance, instruction and friendship kept me from leaving Pembroke and led to not only a great education but a life long friend. He truly was one of the best men I ever knew and gave his all to many students and friends. I think of him often and will miss him more. May God bless him upon his final journey and know he made my life better.

My deepest sympathy to all of his family knowing his memory will put a smile on their face and love in their HEART!
