Mr. Donnie Bryant Jones, 71, of Maxton was the son of the late Mr. Halbert Lyon Jones, Sr. and Mrs. Julia Estella Hurley Jones. He was born December 22, 1952 in Scotland County, North Carolina. Mr. Donnie passed peacefully on Saturday, February 3, 2024 at Duke University Hospital. He is preceded in death by a grandson: George Ray Barber III and a brother: Mr. David Malcolm Jones, Sr.
The funeral will be 3 p.m. Thursday, February 8, 2024 at Whitehill Freewill Church with Rev. Isreal Branch officiating. Burial will follow in the church Cemetery.
Mr. Donnie leaves to cherish his memories, wife: Mrs. Cletus Jones of the home; a daughter: Ms. Velna Ann Freeman of Laurel Hill; sons: Mr. Jeremy Bryant Jones (Mary) of Prospect; Mr. Bradley Scott Jones of Pembroke; Mr. William Ashley Jones (Loretta) of Prospect and Ashley Larue Jacobs of the home; brothers: Mr. Halbert Jones, Jr. and Mr. James Jones; sisters: Mrs. Alice Leetta Russell, Ms. Emily Craven and Mrs. Laura Haywood; grandchildren; nieces, nephews and a host of loving family and friends.
The visitation will be 2 p.m. Thursday, February 8, 2024 at Whitehill Freewill Church.
