Mr. Donald Adrian Chavis, 81, and departed this life on Monday, December 16, 2019. He was born on March 2, 1938 to Mr. Ulysses P. and Mrs. Lena Oxendine Chavis. He was preceded in death by two sisters: Ms. Muriel Hunt and Ms. Marcelene “Bootie” Johnson; one brother: Mr. Sylvester Chavis.
The funeral will 3 p.m. Thursday, December 19, 2019 at Bear Swamp Baptist Church with Revs. Lindbergh Chavis, Timmy Chavis and Jimmy Harris officiating, Burial will follow in the Bear Swamp Baptist Church Cemetery.
Mr. Donald Adrian Chavis better known as LT. Chavis was a loving father, grandfather, husband, brother and uncle. He was also an assistant Sunday school teacher for many years. Mr. Donald is survived by his wife, Mrs. Diana W. Chavis of the home, a daughter: Ms. Adrianne C. Locklear (Matt); and granddaughter: Mahlene Jude all of Pembroke NC; four sisters: Ms. Vilena C. Locklear of Eutawville, SC, Ms. Earlena C. Lowry, Mrs. Jo Ann C. Chavis Lowery (John) and Ms. Angela Chavis Mickey all of Pembroke, NC; five brothers: Mr. Freddie L. Chavis (Pandora) of Lumberton, NC, Mr. Earl Brennon Chavis of Florence, SC, Mr. Grover C. Chavis and Rev. Lindbergh Chavis all of Pembroke, NC and a host of relatives and friends.
The family will receive friends from 2-3 p.m. on Thursday December 19, 2019 at Bear Swamp Baptist Church.
