Bro. Van C. Locklear

Bro. Van C. Locklear, 77, of 439 Onnie & Joe Road, Maxton, NC went to be with the Lord on Friday, April 5, 2019 at his home. He was preceded in death by his first wife: Mrs. Patricia K. Locklear; parents: Mr. Bennett Locklear and Mrs. Bessie Locklear; three sisters: Mrs. Mary Clark, Ms. Geraldine Brooks and Mrs. Martha Hunt; three brothers: Mr. James Locklear, Mr. Sam Brooks and Mr. Raymond Brooks Jr. The funeral will be 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 9, 2019 at Prospect United Methodist Church with Rev. Dr. Sam Wynn, Rev. Bill James Locklear and Bro. Kenny Locklear officiating. Burial will be 2:00 p.m Wednesday, April 10, 2019 at the church cemetery. Left to cherish his memories are his wife of 27 years: Mrs. Libby Locklear; four daughters: Mrs. Kim Newton (Don), Mrs. Vanessa Dial (Adrian), Ms. Tonya Hardin and Ms. Stephanie Strickland; one son: Mr. Joseph Anthony Strickland; thirteen grandchildren; six great grandchildren; siblings are: Mrs. Margrete Revels and Mr. Wilton Brooks; three special sisters in law and four brothers in law; special nephews & nieces: Jessie and April Clark and Larry & Sherry Lynn Locklear; special friends: Mr. Wilkie Lowery, Mr. Kevin Oxendine, Mr. Jimmy and Mrs. Kathy Edwards of Ocean Isle, NC, and Susie’s Kitchen & Staff; nieces, nephews, family and friends; and our church family – Prospect United Methodist Church. After working 20 years with LOF Glass Co. Mr. Van enjoyed retirement – fishing, hunting, playing golf, but most of all he enjoyed carrying hot meals to the homebound of Thursdays. That was his last job. Serving the Lord was his greatest pleasure.
