Mrs. Sally Dale Locklear, 95, was born January 31, 1930 in Robeson County and departed this life on Wednesday, August 27, 2025. She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years: Mr. John Bracey Locklear; her daughter: Ms. Pamela Cunningham; her parents: Mrs. Blannie & Mr. Eutie Wilkins and Mr. Roy Cummings and her brothers: Mr. Roy Lacy Cummings and Mr. Stacy Cummings.
The funeral will be 1 p.m. Saturday, August 30, 2025, at Mt. Airy Baptist Church with the Revs: Kelvin Locklear and Dr. Mike Cummings officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Airy Church Cemetery.
She is survived by her children: Mr. Johnny Locklear(Nancy), Mrs. Jennifer Driscoll(Jamie), Ms. Suzanne Kot and Mr. Bracey Locklear; her brothers: Mr. Robert Wilkins(Willie Mae), Mr. Ricky Wilkins, Mr. Vick Wilkins(Teresa), Mr. William Wilkins(Claudette), Mr. Gregory Wilkins(Barbara) and Mr. Earl Cummings(Crystal); sisters: Ms. Barbara Oxendine, Mrs. Clara Mable Woodell(Kerry) and Mrs. Kathy Dae Locklear(Darlton); grandchildren: Brandon Brewington, Scott Kaczmarek, John Steven Locklear, Fawn Stepka, Michael James Locklear, Ashley Setchell, Jessica Rose Locklear, Tommy Cunningham, Shana Lengyel; thirteen great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Mrs. Locklear attended Pembroke Public Schools and the University of North Carolina at Pembroke. While in her Junior year she married Mr. John Bracey Locklear, August 3, 1952, they, then moved to Detroit, MI. She and John lived in Michigan for 48 years, where they raised their family. Mrs. Sally was a teacher for the Roseville Community Schools in Michigan. She finished her degree from the University of North Carolina at Pembroke and she also earned a Master of Science degree from Saginaw Grand Valley University. She retired after 30 years of teaching.
She and John moved back to Pembroke in 2004 and John Passed away in 2011. Sally was a gifted athlete and a fierce competitor. We will always cherish our fond memories of her and her love for golf.
The family will receive friends from 11am-1pm Saturday, August 30, 2025, at Mt. Airy Baptist Church.
