Mrs. Evelyn Chavis Burnette, 91, of 4772 Preston Road, was born September 4, 1932 and departed this life on Thursday, July 11, 2024. She was preceded in death by her parents: Mr. John & Mrs. Arpie Brewer Chavis; a daughter: Ms. Myra Kay Burnette; her husband: Mr. David Burnette; daughter-in-law: Mrs. Deadera A. Burnette; three brothers: Mr. Levi Chavis, Rev. Johnny Chavis and Mr. Ernest Chavis; four sisters: Ms. Annie Pierce, Ms. Christine Locklear, Ms. Fannie Sue Locklear and Ms. Lizzie Lowery.
The funeral service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 16, 2024, at Sycamore Hill Holiness Church with the Revs: Chris Locklear and Michael Cummings officiating. Burial will follow in the Sycamore Hill Church Cemetery.
Mrs. Evelyn is survived by two sons: Mr. Jimmy Burnette of the home and Mr. Ronnis L. Chavis(Kathy) of Wilmington, NC; three daughters: Mrs. Janice Jones, Mrs. Faye Sanderson(Julian) both of Maxton and Mrs. Shelia Evans(Pete) of Lexington, NC; eleven grandchildren; twenty-two great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends.
The family will receive friends from 1-2 p.m. Tuesday, July 16, 2024 at Sycamore Hill Holiness Church.
