Mr. Avery Keith Chavis, 64, of Pembroke, North Carolina was born October 17, 1959 in Robeson County, North Carolina to the late Mr. Laudell and Mrs. Willie Ree Chavis, and departed this life on Tuesday, June 4, 2024. Avery was preceded in death by his brother: Mr. Myron Todd Chavis and his sister Ms. Amy Denise Chavis.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday, June 8, 2024 at Union Chapel Holiness Methodist Church with Rev. Jimmy Hunt, Dwayne Hunt and Willie Scott, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in the Locklear Family Cemetery.
Mr. Avery Keith was given the nickname “Cadillac” by his co-workers and friends. He was an exceptional electrician by trade and worked in construction in many states.
Mr. Avery Keith is survived by two sisters: Ms. Brenda Faye Maynor and Mrs. Willie Ann Locklear (Larry) of Pembroke, N.C.; five brothers: Mr. Ronnie Revels (Charity), Mr. Anthony Chavis, Mr. Michael Chavis (Patricia) of Pembroke, N.C.; Mr. George Chavis (Connie) of Lumberton, N.C. and Mr. Laudell Chavis (Sherry) of Odenville, Alabama. Although Avery Keith did not have any children, he was an uncle to twenty-four nieces and nephews and a host of relatives and friends. Avery Keith has a special bond with three of his nephews Dexter and Myron Blake Maynor and Carey Locklear.
Mr. Avery had a great love and compassion for helping those in need. His memory will live on in all the lives he touched, and he will be truly missed. On behalf of The Chavis family, we thank you for all of your prayers and condolences during this time.
The family will receive friends from 1-2 p.m. Saturday, June 8, 2024 at Union Chapel Holiness Methodist Church.
