MRS. TAWANA URBAN

    Ms. Tawana Urban, 67, of 2886 Union Chapel Road, was born in Detroit Michigan on the First of April 1953 and departed this life on Thursday, July 9, 2020. She is preceded in death by her parents: Mr. Johnson and Mrs. Adelaide Locklear; one sister and two grandchildren.

     The memorial service will be Wednesday, July 15, 2020 at Locklear & Son Funeral home Chapel with pastor Gene Phillips officiating.

    Ms. Urban was the youngest daughter. She graduated from Finney High School in 1970 and continued her education at Detroit Business Institute in computer programming. She married Mr. Robert Urban. She worked at PBS channel 56 (Det) and was a cornerstone for Detroit Indian Education. Ms. Urban loved music, swimming, shooting pool and was very actively involved with her Native American culture and community. She had an open-door policy in her home, everyone in need was welcomed. She will be truly missed by many.

    She is survived by three children: Ms. Cheryl, Ms. Tawana Tinika and Mr. Robert wife Rita; seventeen grandchildren; elven great-grandchildren and two on the way; two sisters; one brother; a very special friend: Ms. Amber Barton for all the loving care and empathy in taking care of her.
