Mrs. Odessa Locklear

Mrs. Odessa Locklear, 90, of 460 Gene’s Road, Pembroke was born July 29, 1928 and on Wednesday, January 23, 2019, she ascended into her heavenly home, surrounded by her family and friends, at her home. She was preceded in death by her parents: Mr. R.D. & Mrs. Rockie J. Cummings Locklear; her husband: Mr. Bill Buck Locklear; four sisters: Ms. Nancy Jones, Ms. Sarah Clark, Ms. Violet Tyner and Ms. Goldie Lowery; five brothers: Mr. Governor Locklear, Mr. John L. Locklear, Rev. Sanford Locklear, Mr. Titus Locklear and Mr. James B. Locklear; a granddaughter: Ms. Shonda Oxendine and a great-grandchild: Christian E. Oxendine. The funeral will be conducted 2:00 p.m., Sunday, January 27, 2019, at Mt. Airy Baptist Church with the Revs: Dr. Mike Cummings and Kelvin Locklear officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Airy Church Cemetery. Surviving are three sons: Mr. Terry Locklear(Sally), Mr. Wendell Russell Locklear(Connie), and Mr. Darrell Franklin Locklear(Lanette); two daughters: Ms. Clea Barton and Ms. Debbie Lou Cummings(Archie); brother: Mr. Henry Lee Locklear; thirteen grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; special friends: Ms. Jessie “Bit” Hunt and Ms. Shelia Locklear and a host of relatives and friends. The family will receive friends from7-9 p.m. Saturday, January 26, 2019, at Locklear & Son Funeral Home.
