Helping Families and Friends Honor Their Loved One
MRS. ANNIE PEARL LOWERY

MRS. ANNIE PEARL LOWERY

Mrs. Annie Pearl Lowery, 90, of 12000 Deep Branch Road, Maxton was born September 13, 1935 to the late Mr. Lawrence and Mrs. Pinkey Locklear. She departed this life on March 22 at home surrounded by loved ones. She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years Mr. Fulton “Pat” Lowery, a daughter, Mrs. Bebe Carol Lowery Locklear (Ernest), and her biological father Mr. Romie Strickland.

Mrs. Lowery worked with the Red Banks Mutual Association farming in the early 60s and many years at Waverly Mills and Golf Pride in Laurinburg before coming home to be a caregiver for her parents. She later built and operated Red Banks Grocery/Pat’s Place (Pinkey’s Store) along with her husband from 1972 – 1994 and made many friends who became like family. She was known for her philanthropy supporting many in her community through credit and donations.

Mrs. Lowery leaves behind to cherish her memory her children: Mrs. Cynthia Oxendine, Mrs. Debbie Bullard (Phillip) and Mrs. Cheryl Lucas Hunt (Danny); seven grandchildren: Mr. Patrick Jacobs (Kayla), Mrs. Chiara Carter (Jon), Ms. Shayla Locklear, Mr. Christopher Spurlock, Mr. Max Spurlock, Ms. Laylah Jordan, and Mr. Coty Locklear; five great grandchildren: Jaiden, Kinsley, Sophia, Elliott, and Riley; and a host of relatives and friends.

Of all the special gifts in life, however great or small, to have her as our Mama was the greatest gift of all. She was a woman of few words but she was feisty and ran a tight ship. She was famous for her cooking especially her Sunday dinners–her chocolate cake was the best ever. She was known for being a hard worker, keeping a meticulous home, her yard décor/lights, tending two ‘community’ gardens, hog killings, and sweeping yards. We were truly blessed with a Mama who loved us and made sure we had what we needed and a lot of what we wanted. She especially loved her grands and great grands. We celebrate her life and take comfort in knowing she is where she longed to be, and we will see her again.

A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, March 26, 2026, at Preston Gospel Church with Bros: Louis Locklear, Stephen Locklear and Arnold Locklear officiating. Burial will follow in the Preston Cemetery. Viewing will be held one hour prior to services at the church.
