Mr. Prentiss Herndon, 64, of 95 Surf Lane Maxton, NC was born August 2, 1953 and left his earthly home on May 30, 2018. He is preceded in death by his mother: Ms. Lou Ellen Herndon; his grandparents: Mr. Edmond and Mrs. Janice Herndon; and four siblings. The funeral will be 3:00 p.m. Sunday, June 3, 2018 at White Hill Freewill Baptist Church with the Revs: Fred Locklear and Kelvin Locklear officiating. Burial will follow in the White Hill Church Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday, June 2, 2018 from 7-9 p.m. at Locklear & Son Funeral Home. Mr. Prentiss leaves behind to cherish his memories his lovely wife of 24 years: Mrs. Annette Herndon; a daughter: Mrs. Nannie Rena Chavis (William) of Maxton, NC; two sons: Mr. Chris Brayboy and Mr. Danny Brayboy of Pembroke, NC. He was blessed with ten grandchildren: Kyron, Ashlan, Kinley, Nevaeh, Lukas, Kaden, Adam, Tristian, Aiden and Meredith. He also leaves behind two daughters: Ms. Bobbie and Ms. Heather; two sons: Mr. Wayne and Mr. Patrick; seven siblings; two special friends: Mr. Jerry Hale and Mr. Eddie Caulder and a host of relatives, friends and loved ones. His family describes him as a loving, caring, giving, passionate man. His wife whom he referred to as “Buke” unless he was angry with her then he would yell at her “Hunnie”. His children and his grandkids were his pride and joy. Mr. Prentiss was an avid hunter and fisherman, whom was known in Scotland County as “The Bass Man”. He will forever be our “PaPa”.
