Mr. Eddie Dean “Rambo” Dial, 62, of Maxton, N.C., passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 19, 2019 at Highsmith-Rainey Specialty Hospital in Fayetteville, N.C., surrounded by his family. He was born March 3, 1957 to Mr. Nathaniel “Buddy” and Mrs. Betty Oxendine Dial. He is preceded in death by a sister: Ms. Susan McGirt; his parents; and a brother-in-law: Mr. Robert Vance Locklear.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Monday, December 23, 2019 at Locklear & Son Funeral home with Rev. Jerry Locklear officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Anna Church cemetery.
He was a 1975 graduate of Prospect High School, and after graduation, worked as a Rod-buster, tying steel. Eddie loved his God, country, and family, often considering himself to be Rambo—a soldier in the Lord’s Army. He was a devoted uncle to his nieces and nephews and loved to laugh and joke with his family. He also enjoyed writing, wearing camouflage, and sporting the American flag.
He is survived by a sister: Ms. Roseanna Locklear of the home; a brother: Mr. Delton; and wife: Mrs. Melissa of Cerro Gordo, N.C.; a brother-in-law: Mr. Robert “Robbie” McGirt, of Pembroke, N.C.; and a multitude of nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends. He will be deeply missed by his family and all those who he bought happiness to.
Eddie’s family will receive friends at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, December 23, 2019, at Locklear and Son Funeral Home of Pembroke, N.C.
