Mr. Dorsey Ray Locklear, 83, of Charlotte, passed away on November 2, 2021. He was born in Pembroke on January 27, 1938, the son of the late Mr. Willie B. Locklear, Sr. and Mrs. Effie Lee Jacobs Locklear. In Addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife: Mrs. Mary Ann Locklear; daughter: Ms. Patricia Anne Locklear; brothers: Mr. Harold Fay Locklear, Mr. Carey Locklear; half-brother: Mr. Theodore Locklear and half-sister: Ms. Mary Ethel Bryant.
A memorial service will be 7 p.m. Friday, November 12, 2021 at Locklear & Son Funeral Home Chapel.
Mr. Dorsey was a long-time member of Sunset Road Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon for many years. He loved his church family and enjoyed his many mission trips. Mr. Dorsey never met a stranger, when you met him, you felt like you’d known him for a lifetime. He was a dear friend to all.
Mr. Dorsey is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law: Mr. Ray and Mrs. Kelly Locklear, Mr. Johnny Locklear and Ms. Lori Leaman-Fay; brothers and sisters-in-law: Mr. Gerald and Mrs. Argie Locklear, Mr. Willie B. Jr. and Mrs. Rhoda Locklear; Mr. Mitchell and Mrs. Patty Locklear, Mr. Chris and Mrs. Kim Locklear; brother: Mr. Arnold Locklear; sister and brother-in-law: Mrs. Cynthia and Mr. Ronald Hunt; half-sister: Ms. Melba Laue; grandchildren: Heather and Husband Thomas, Sophia, Andrew, Arlyn, Taylor; three great-grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends.
Family will receive friends from 6-7 p.m. Friday, November 12, 2021 at Locklear & Son Funeral Home.
