Mr. Daniel D. Locklear, 94, of Kever Road, Maxton, NC was born on September 19, 1925 and departed this life on Saturday, May 30, 2020, at Southeastern Regional Medical Center. He was preceded in death by the following: his parents: Mr. Daniel Preston Locklear and Mrs. Peggy Locklear Lowery; his previous wife of 30 years: Mrs. Fleeta “Money” Locklear; his daughter: Mrs. Margaret Locklear Jones; his brothers: Mr. Sherman Locklear, Mr. Greene Locklear, Mr. Len D. Locklear and Kever Locklear; his sisters: Ms. Etta Mae Locklear and Ms. Dannie Mae Locklear.
A graveside service will be 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 2, 2020 at Galilee Baptist Church with Revs: David Hunt, Jennings Bullard and Donald Bullard officiating.
He leaves to cherish his memories: his wife of 43 years: Mrs. Alice S. Locklear, of the home; his two sons: Mr. Harold D. Locklear (Marlene) of Maxton, NC and Mr. Jennings Bullard (Fran) of Pembroke, NC; a daughter: Mrs. Julia Murr (James) of Red Springs, NC; two brothers: Mr. Eartle Lowery (Patricia) of Maxton, NC and Mr. Wilkie Lowery (Ann) of Maxton, NC; eight grandchildren; nine great grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends.
In his early years, Mr. Locklear worked as a farmer with Mr. Harvey Bullard, who was instrumental in leading him to have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. He encouraged him to seek a career with Pembroke College from which he retired in 1987.
Mr. Locklear was a member of Galilee Baptist Church where he served as a deacon for about 58 years. He was devoted to the church and the church ministry.
