Mr. Aubrey Sampson Sr., 77, of Pembroke, departed this life while being peacefully serenaded by his loving wife, on Saturday, October 16, 2021. He was born on May 2, 1944, to the late Mr. Tracy and Mrs. Bessie Sampson. He was also preceded in death by his son: Mr. Aubrey Jr.; brothers: Mr. John Norman, Mr. Winfield, Mr. Melvin, Mr. Elery and a sister: Ms. Naomi Hardin.
Mr. Sampson is survived by his wife of 54 years: Mrs. Anna Sampson, whom he affectionately referred to as Corrina; two daughters: Mrs. Debra Locklear (Trent) and Mrs. Joanna Hunt (Jason) of Pembroke; grandchildren: Brittany (Scottie), Alana (Preston), Bret, Thorne, Joyce Anna, Tala, Adam, Jaron (Hannah), Malina, Andre; ten great grandchildren; siblings: Mrs. Ilene Richards (Bob) of Florence S.C., Mrs. Diane (Herman) of Wilmington, N.C., and Mr. Anslem (Beverly) of Pembroke; special caregivers: Ms. Donna, Ms. Romana, and Ms. Betty. He loved his in-laws, nieces, and nephews dearly.
Affectionately known as the Mayor of Deep Branch, he loved his family, community, church, and politics. He was a lifelong member of Pembroke Gospel Chapel. He enjoyed spreading the word of God, passing out gospel tracts, and discussing his family tree with anyone who would listen.
A celebration of life will take place Oct. 19 at 3 p.m. at Deep Branch cemetery. The Revs. Steve Strickland, James Graham, and Charles Locklear will be officiating.

I am so sorry for your loss. Mr. Aubrey will surely be missed. They teach you how to live life to the fullest but don’t teach you how to live without them.
