Ms. Martha Evelyn Lowery, 79, of Pembroke, NC, departed this life on Saturday, May 31, 2025 surrounded by her family. She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years: Mr. Albert Lowery; her father: Mr. Edward Locklear; mother: Ms. Beatrice Locklear; sister: Ms. Wilma Bowen; brothers: Mr. Thernace Locklear and Odis Locklear; a special cousin: Ms. Martha Frances Locklear and a niece: Debra Locklear.
Ms. Martha was a devoted wife, mother, sister, aunt and friend to many. She loved her family with her whole heart and cooking was her love language and she did it selflessly.
The funeral will be 3 p.m. Wednesday, June 4, 2025 at Bear Swamp Baptist Church with Rev. Anthony Locklear and Timothy Chavis officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
She is survived by her daughter: Ms. Kesha Hunt (Donnie); son: Mr. Michael Lowery (Karey); two sisters: Ms. Eleanor Ammons (Ben) and Ms. Eunice Lowery (Charles); two brothers: Mr. Gene Locklear (Letha), Mr. Mitchell Locklear (Janice); five grandchildren: Moriah (Austin), Noah (Kaitlan), Daniel (Kinsli), Hunter (Erica) and Kennedy (Marcus); five great-grandchildren: Paisley, Pryston, Marcus Junior, Levi, Damien; a best friend: Ms. Peggy Chavis VanFleet and many special nieces, nephews and special friends.
The family will receive friends from 2-3 p.m. Wednesday, June 4, 2025 at Bear Swamp Baptist Church.
