With hearts full of love and gratitude, we celebrate the life of Mr. Donald Gray Jones, 83, who peacefully entered eternal rest on Friday, September 25, 2026. Born on November 20, 1942, Donald was the beloved son of the late: Mr. Bell Jones and Mrs. Nancy Jones. He was also preceded in death by his brothers: Mr. Roscoe Jones and Mr. Willie French Jones; sisters: Ms. Callie Jones, Ms. Linda Rose Jones and Mrs. Eunice Locklear.
Throughout his life, he was known for his joy, strength, and unwavering faith. Donald dedicated 20 years of service to Campbell Soup Company in Maxton, North Carolina, before retiring. He was a proud member of the Carolina Cruisers and had a great passion for classic cars and hunting. Above all, he was a man of faith and a member of Mt. Airy Baptist Church.
He leaves to cherish his precious memory his loving wife of 58 years: Mrs. Deanna Locklear Jones; two sons: Mr. Bruce Bell Jones and Mr. James Jones; his beloved granddaughter: Ms. Savannah Jones, who was the joy of his life; brother: Mr. Paul Jones; three special and faithful friends: Ms. Annette Locklear, Mr. Ronnie Van Locklear, and Ms. Verlene Tyner and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends. Donald’s life was a testament to love, faith, and family. His memory will forever be treasured by those who knew and loved him, and the legacy he leaves behind will continue to live on in their hearts.
The funeral will be 4 p.m. Wednesday, September 30, 2026, at Mt. Airy Baptist Church with the Revs. Kelvin Locklear and George L. Locklear officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Airy Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior services at the church.
