Mrs. Gail Locklear of Maxton, passed to her heavenly home at the age of 66 on Friday, September 26, 2025. Gail (the baby of the family) was born March 24, 1959 to the late Mr. Archie & Mrs. Ida Ree Locklear.
Mrs. Gail lived a life filled with love, compassion and purpose. She filled her days with laughter, love, music and stories reminding us that joy could always be found in the simplest moments. In her leisure time she enjoyed decorating her home for every season and holiday. She took pride in each and every role as a mother, wife, grandmother, sister and friend.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers: Mr. Dallas Locklear and Mr. Vardell Locklear; a sister: Mrs. Patsy Fowler; her paternal grandparents: Mr. Floyd & Mrs. Pearl Locklear; maternal grandparents: Mr. Harvey & Mrs. Lily Dial and a grandson: Blake Navarro.
Mrs. Gail is survived by her husband: Mr. Ronald Jones of the home; three children: Mrs. Sheree Oxendine(Paul D. Oxendine) of Maxton; Mrs. Lynn Hunt(James Hunt) of Fairmont and Mr. Steven Navarro of Pembroke; two step-daughters: Ms. Krissy Jones and Mrs. Ronda Chavis(Steven Chavis) both of Maxton; twelve grandchildren: AJ, Zoey, Tye, Cobe, Gage, Haylie, Janiah, Kensleigh, Kyra, LaKenzie, Charity and Easton; three great-grandchildren: Jameson, Janie and Moni; four sisters: Ms. Bessie Jones, Mrs. Lexie Brooks(Jerry Brooks) and Ms. Cletus Jones all of Maxton, Mrs. Grace Oxendine(Danny Oxendine) of Rowland; a brother: Mr. Jimmy Locklear(Brenda Locklear) of Pembroke; a very special fur baby: Tiny; and a host of loving family and friends. This chapter of Gail’s earthly story is over, but the book remains open in the hearts of all that knew her.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday, October 2, 2025, at White Hill Freewill Baptist Church with the Revs: Israel Branch, Codi Locklear and Fredrick Locklear officiating. Burial will follow in the White Hill Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, October 1, 2025 at White Hill Freewill Baptist Church.
