In My Own Words:
Thank you to each of you who today celebrate my life. Having been born on May 19, 1964 I have ventured from this life in recent days. I give thanks to my mother, Mrs. Peggy Jean Jacobs Locklear and to my late father Mr. Phillip Ray Locklear. I represented turmoil to both of you throughout my life and hope that today will bring end to that.
In my passing I say to each of you, seize the opportunity and responsibility each day to lead your own lives. Our accountability each day should be to ourselves and to The Creator. It is appropriate to honor the other relatives of man with whom we all walk in this world. Failure, however, to lead each of our lives in our own ways and with our own energies does not allow each of us to reach harmony and balance in our existence.
I hope that it can be said about my existence that I touched and improved lives. I hope that the family members and friends reading this will know how much I appreciated your interaction with my life. I hope that you will recall the breadth of my smile, the tightness of my hugs and the volume of my laugh and know that you have been loved.
As tomorrow rolls into the next tomorrow, memories will fade. Remember that love is the most important thing to nurture in your life. The most important type of love to nurture is that love that you impart to yourself. Without that love you can never totally enjoy the love of another or for another.
God’s speed and blessings to each of you.
Love,
Eric
“As I go forward on my journey know that I carry you in my heart.”
