Mr. James Ronald “Ronnie” Chavis of Pembroke, NC, was born June 9, 1947 to the late Mr. William Fernie and Mrs. Victoria Jacobs Chavis and departed this life on Saturday, February 17, 2024 at the age of 76. In addition to his parents, Mr. Ronnie was also preceded in death by a special sister-in-law: Ms. Maxine Deese.
Mr. Ronnie was in active duty for 2 years and reserves for 3 years. He worked for public schools for 37 years as a teacher, assistant principal then later a principal. Nine of those years he worked for Dillon High School.
Mr. Ronnie is survived by his wife of 45 years: Mrs. Diane Deese Chavis of the home; his beloved sons: Mr. Jordan Alexander Chavis, wife: Victoria Chavis and his cherished granddaughter and namesake: Nora James Chavis of Chapel Hill, NC and Mr. James Ryan Chavis of Brooklyn, NY; brothers-in-law: Dr. Joseph Deese and Dr. Delton Johnson of Maxton, NC; best friend: Mr. Adam Warren Love of Pembroke, NC as well as a host of relatives and friends.
Keeping with Mr. Ronnie’s wishes, no funeral or memorial services are planned.
