Ms. Fronnie Jacobs Sampson, 80, was born January 15, 1942 in Robeson County, NC and passed away on January 1, 2023 peacefully surrounded by her family. She was the daughter of Mr. Welton and Mrs. Lillie Mae Lowry. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband: Mr. Elery Sampson, whom she loved dearly.
She is survived by her daughters: Mrs. Belinda S. Henson (Jerry) of Leland, NC and Mrs. Sherry S. Clark of Pembroke; granddaughters: Ashley H. Grim (Ryan) and Kara Bryn Henson (Taylor) of Wilmington, NC; grandson: Ethan Storm Clark of Pembroke; and a sister: Margaret Locklear (Roger) of Pembroke.
Mrs. Fronnie was a dedicated educator for 30 years and taught at Prospect School, Deep Branch Elementary, and West Lumberton Elementary. She was a farmer’s wife and took great pride in her home, especially her yard. She enjoyed cooking for the family, with Southern favorites including fried chicken, chicken and pastry, and fresh veggies from the garden.
Mrs. Fronnie was our family fashionista and loved to shop all day long. She was a huge fan of Young and the Restless and Bold and the Beautiful. She was very creative and skilled at sewing and other crafts. In her younger days, Fronnie enjoyed traveling with her husband and best friends to places like Outer Banks, New Orleans, Orlando, and New York City.
The family would like to thank the following people: the nurses, staff and doctors at Gibson Cancer Center; Miss Connie Hammond for going above and beyond to help her look her best; a special thanks to Nurse Claudia for providing humor and gracious encouragement during PT appointments; and Nurse Helen and Nurse Jeannette at Liberty HomeCare and Hospice Services for their kindness and compassionate care in her final days.
A Christian, a wife, a mother, a grandmother, and a friend; Fronnie was opinionated and sassy and we all loved her for it. She will be forever missed.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, January 4, 2023 at Pembroke Gospel Chapel located at 406 N. Jones Street Pembroke, NC at 1 p.m. Funeral services will follow at 2 p.m. and burial at Lumbee Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, a charity close to Fronnie’s heart.
