Mrs. Maureen Carter Regan

Mrs. Maureen Carter Regan passed away peacefully Monday, February 5, 2019. She was born April 26, 1936 to the late Mr. Robert H. Carter and Mrs. Ella McNeil Carter. Maureen was born and raised in the Burnt Swamp community and was a long term resident of Pembroke where she and her late husband Mr. Frederick Regan raised four children. Maureen was passionate about education for herself and others. She earned several degrees from Pembroke State University while employed as a secretary in Academic Affairs. She then began her second career as an educator, spending more than a decade as a language arts teacher at Magnolia Middle School. Upon retiring, she continued to support education by working with Communities in Schools, mentoring first year teachers, and serving as a tutor at several public schools in Robeson County. Maureen also lived a life of service. She volunteered with a number of local organizations, including Girls Scouts of America, Guardian ad Litem, Southeastern Health Volunteer program, and several non-profit thrift stores in Robeson County. She is survived by her brother Guy Carter (Cozy) and niece Susan K. Greene (David) and her four children: Richard Regan (Maria Paz), Rosalind Lowry, Sheila Regan, and Bobby Regan (Renee). Left to cherish her memories are her seven grandchildren, Christina Saunders (Ryan), Candace Lowry (Elliott), Ryan Regan (Emily), Sheena Regan, Nicholas Regan, Jessica Harris (Trey) and Amanda Regan, and eight great grandchildren Savannah, JR, and Summer Saunders, Eli, Callie and Cesilie Lowry and Wesley and Iyla Harris. A Funeral Service will be held Friday, February 8, 2019 at Sandy Plains United Methodist Church in Pembroke at 3pm. The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 3:00pm at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to Sandy Plains United Methodist Church Day Care, 2468 Union Chapel Rd Pembroke, NC 288372 or Robeson County Public Library P.O.
