REGINA CARTER LOCKLEAR

REGINA CARTER LOCKLEAR

On February 23, 2022, God took Mrs. Regina Carter Locklear to her eternal home, where we rejoice in knowing that her body and mind have been fully restored.  Greeting her there were her parents; her brother: Mr. John Louis Carter Jr. and her sisters: Ms. Adrene Locklear, Ms. Christine Locklear and Ms. Mazelene Dusan.  Looking forward to the day they’re reunited are her husband; children; grandchildren; great grandchild as well as her siblings: Dolores Jones, Olene Sampson, Vail Carter, and Lex Carter, and nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.   We thank God for blessing us with Regina!

Regina Carter Locklear was born on April 14, 1941, to Mr. John L. and Mrs.  Mary Ellen Carter of the Mt. Airy community. She attended Robeson County Schools and graduated from Pembroke State College. She began her professional career as a math and science teacher at Hawk Eye High School in Hoke County. She was married to the love of her life for 54 years: Mr. Ronnie Locklear, and was fortunate to live in different communities and impact the people she encountered. Mrs. Regina lived in Maryland, Raleigh, Ft. Lauderdale and Charlotte where she held positions in banking, accounting, and customer service. While living in Mecklenburg County, Mrs. Regina and Mr. Ronnie were recognized for outstanding support and contributions to Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools’ Indian Education Program. Mrs. Regina retired in 2000 and moved to Pembroke, where she became a member of Berea Baptist Church.

Mrs. Regina was a wonderful wife, mother and sister.  Her children: Mr. Barry (Jennifer) and Mrs. Monica (Dewayne) were her heart.  Just as special to her were her grandchildren:  Austin (Lauren), Colby, Savannah, Sarina and her great-granddaughter, Alyssa.

The funeral will be 2:30 p.m. Saturday, February 26, 2022 at Berea Baptist Church with Revs: Charles Locklear and Chris Hunt officiating. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery.

To know Mrs. Regina was to love her.  She was always smiling and enjoyed laughing and making others smile.  Also known as a shopper extraordinaire, Mrs. Regina got the most joy out of buying for others. Mrs. Regina also loved music and dancing and taking road trips, especially with her sisters.  During the last several years of her life, Mrs. Regina blessed others by giving them a piece of peppermint candy.  Whatever she did, big or small, it was done from her heart and with love. The family extends a special thanks to Ms. Tammy Jones for her compassionate caregiving over the last several months.

The family will receive friends from 1:30 – 2:30 p.m. Saturday, February 26, 2022 at Berea Baptist Church.
