MS. LUCIA DIAL FINERTY

Ms. Lucia Dial Finerty, age 88 of Sarasota, Florida, passed away surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday, September 6, 2022.  She was preceded in death by her daughter: Ms. Debra Dorenbush Buller and her parents: Mr. Bernes & Mrs. Martha Locklear Dial.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. Sunday, September 11, 2022, at Elrod Baptist Church with burial to follow in the Preston Cemetery.

Surviving are a son: Mr. Paul Finerty(Ewa Kokoszka-Finerty); granddaughters: Julia Finerty, Nadia Finerty and grandson: Alex Finerty and special friends: Ms. Stephanie Goodwin and Dan Stephens, along with countless others all of Sarasota, FL. She is also survived by family in Lake Charles, Louisiana including grandchildren: Chris Buller, Amanda Allen; great-grandchildren: Brice and Blair Buller and Tiffany Allen. In Robeson County, NC, she is survived by brothers: Mr. Bob Dial, Mr. Ronnie Dial, Mr. Andrew Dial and sister: Mrs. Shelby Indyk; countless nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.

Ms. Lucia was a uniquely determined woman that wasn’t afraid of hard work; she despised “lazy people”.  She left home at age 17 and moved to the then thriving city of Detroit and worked in various positions. In 1975, she moved to Sarasota, Florida. In 1980 as a single woman, she completed cosmetology school and opened a successful salon at Southgate Plaza before moving to Beneva Village Plaza. In 1990 inspired by her brother, Bob, she bought 4 acres of property on Ashton Rd. upon which was built Ashton Place Assisted Living which opened in 1996. As were her wishes, she passed peacefully at Ashton Place. We will all miss you!

The family will receive friends from 2-3 p.m. Sunday, September 11, 2022, at Elrod Baptist Church.
