MS. CLARSIE LOCKLEAR CHAVIS

Ms. Clarsie Locklear Chavis of 165 Wildcats Rd, Maxton was born April 4th 1935 and departed this life on Saturday morning March 11th 2023, at her home.  Ms. Clarsie was proceeding in death by her parents:  Mr. Lonnie Locklear and Mrs. Penny B. Locklear; two brothers: Mr. Franklin Locklear and Mr. Vagon Locklear and one sister: Ms. Shirley Locklear.

Ms. Clarsie was born and raised in Prospect Community. As a child she worked on her parent’s farm for years.  She attended Prospect United Methodist Church and loved the Lord. She would always say, “I’m going to church, because one day I will not be able to go.”  Ms. Clarsie always made sure that her children and grandchildren always went to church.  She raised them to always love the Lord and respect others.  She loved to go fishing, hunting and basketball was a sport that she really loved (Carolina Tarheels). She would always say let’s go boys. She taught her nephews how to hunt, fish and drive a car.

The funeral arrangements will be conducted 3:00 p.m.Friday, March 17, 2023 at Prospect United Methodist Church with the Revs: Manford Locklear & Aaron Smith. Burial will follow in the Bullard Family Cemetery.

Surviving Ms. Clarsie is a daughter: Mrs. Glenda Hunt(Kelvin); a son: Mr. Preston Chavis(Audrey); three granddaughters: Andrea Desire Chavis, Acacia Nantachie Jacobs(Shawn) and Adrienne Cheyenne Chavis; a grandson: Ashton Preston Chavis; four great grandchildren: Ryland Locklear, Asher Locklear, Carson Jacobs and Addison Locklear; two sister-in-law’s: Mrs. Mayola Locklear and Mrs. Kathrine Locklear; a great aunt: Ms. Lella Francis Carter and a great nephew: Little Donald D. Locklear, whom she kept and thought of as her child; several nephews and nieces whom she really loved;  A special friend of the family whom was there for her daughter: Norhazel Locklear; her caretakers: Ms. Doris Locklear and Ms. Carol Locklear for the services during Clarise L. Chavis time of sickness and a host of relatives and friends.

The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. Thursday, March 16, 2023 at Prospect United Methodist Church.
