Mrs. Ruby Dean Brooks, 69, departed this life unexpectedly at her home on Tuesday, January 17, 2023. She was born February 3, 1953 in Robeson County to the late Mr. Ardell and Mrs. Bessie Locklear. She was the youngest of eight children. She is preceded in death by her parents; one son: Mr. Richard Locklear; two brothers: Mr. Odell Locklear and Mr. Larson Locklear.

The funeral will be 2:30 P.M. Sunday, January 22, 2023 at Lighthouse Church with Revs. Phillip Locklear, Edward Brooks and Fredrick Locklear officiating. Burial will follow in the White Hill Church Cemetery.

She leaves to cherish her memories her husband: Mr. John Brooks of the home; two sons: Mr. Gregg Locklear and Mr. Jonathan Brooks (Rissa) all of Rowland; two daughters: Mrs. Patty Locklear (James) and Ms. Charlene Brooks all of Rowland; one brother: Mr. Landros Locklear (Lenora) of Maxton; four sisters: Ms. Evelyn Brooks, Ms. Doris Locklear, Ms. Sara Locklear and Mrs. Pearl Oxendine (Mike) all of Maxton; ten grandchildren: Ridge, Taylor, Hilston, Cameron, Timberland, Nitara, Tammy, Richard and Kaitlyn Grace; five great-grandchildren: Axton, Tylon, Taylee, Talayah and Skyler and a host of relatives and friends.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Saturday, January 21, 2023 at Lighthouse Church.
