Mrs. Pearlie Lee Locklear, 92, of 1642 O’Quinn Road, Maxton was born March 18, 1930 to late Mr. Willie B. an Mrs. Mary Frances Locklear. Mrs. Locklear entered into eternal rest Tuesday, December 6, 2022 in the comfort of her home surrounded by loved ones. Mrs. Pearlie was the founder and last living singer of the Gospelettes.

Along with her parents she is preceded in death by her husband: Mr. Ervin Locklear; sons: Mr. Hubert Locklear and Mr. Harless Oxendine; daughters: Ms. Cathy Oxendine, Ms. Linda Oxendine, Ms. Carolyn Brooks and Ms. Shirley Brown; seven siblings; two grandchildren; one great-grand and one great-great-grand.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday, December 10, 2022 at White Hill Freewill Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the Locklear Family Cemetery.

She leaves to cherish her memories a daughter: Ms. Pearline Deal of the home; daughter-in-law: Mrs. Wanda Oxendine of Maxton; nineteen grandchildren; forty-one great grands; ten great-great-grands; sister: Ms. Mary Locklear of Maxton; brother: Mr. Sterling “Bobby” Locklear of Maxton; special friend: Mr. Austin Barnes and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

The family will receive friends from 1-2 p.m. Saturday, December 10, 2022 at White Hill Freewill Baptist Church.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made at Locklear & Son Funeral Home.
