Mr. Stacy Cummings Sr., 87, was born on May 22, 1935 in Pembroke, North Carolina and passed away peacefully in Germantown, Maryland on Saturday, January 14, 2023. He is preceded in death by his parents: Mr. Roy and Mrs. Strawdy Cummings; his wife: Mrs. Doris Lowry Cummings and his brother: Mr. Roy Lacy Cummings.
He is survived by his sons: Mr. Stacy Jr. (Aimee), Mr. Steven (Michele), Mr. Stewart (Jennifer), Mr. Spencer (Katie) and daughter: Ms. Deborah Cummings; siblings: Ms. Sally Locklear, Mrs. Clara Woodell, Mr. Earl Cummings and Mrs. Kathy Dae Locklear. Also left to cherish his memory are 14 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and an abounding number of nieces and nephews.
He served in the US Army before marrying the late Mrs. Doris Lowry Cummings. The couple moved to Rockville, Maryland where they raised five children. Stacy became a Master plumber and worked in the field for nearly forty years supervising some of the largest construction projects in the Washington DC area. Upon his retirement he and Doris moved back to Pembroke where he enjoyed returning to his roots.
Mr. Stacy was a devoted family man and took great pride in his offspring. Second only to his family was his love of the Washington Redskins! He seldom missed watching a game and especially enjoyed any victory over the Cowboys. HTTR!
The funeral will be 3:00 p.m., Saturday, January 21, 2023, at Mt. Airy Baptist Church with the Revs: Kelvin Locklear and Robert Mangum officiating. Burial to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2-3, Saturday, January 21, 2023 at Mt. Airy Baptist Church, 7209 Hwy 72, Pembroke, NC.
