Mr. Marlon Berle Lowry, 64, of 170 Lonnie Farm Road, was born December 18, 1956, and gained his wings on Friday, March 12, 2021. He was preceded in death by his mother: Mrs. Zelma Lowry, and his father: Mr. Reedy Lowry, brothers: Mr. Johnson Lowry and Mr. Curlin Lowery; sisters: Mrs. Diane Bullard and Mrs. Lelia Jacobs.
Mr. Marlon was a devoted Christian and a life-long member of Mt. Airy Baptist Church. He retired from the Lumber River Council of Governments after 30 years of service. He lived a fruitful, honest, humble, and productive life. He was an avid golfer, deer hunter, diehard Nascar, and UNC Basketball fan. God gave him a wonderful gift for gardening. He loved to share the results of his garden with family and community.
The funeral will be 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 17, 2021, at Mt. Airy Baptist Church with the Revs: Kelvin Locklear, Adrian Hammonds, Steve Strickland and Dr. Michael Cummings officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Airy Church Cemetery.
Mr. Marlon leaves behind to cherish his most joyful memories by his wife: Mrs. Delois L. Lowry of the home; one son: Mr. Seth Reed Lowry of Lumberton; two daughters: Ms. Asa Martina Lowry of Pembroke, and Ms. Anna Malina Lowry of the home; his brothers: Mr. Reedy Lowry Jr. and wife Mrs. Brenda, Mr. Robin Lowery and wife Mrs. Dale of Pembroke and his sisters: Mrs. Edith Strickland of Pembroke and Mrs. Shelia L. Hunt and husband Mr. Bennie of Lumberton and a host of relatives and friends.
Viewing will be from 2-3 p.m. Wednesday, March 17, 2021, at Mt. Airy Baptist Church and 10am-1pm at Locklear & Son Funeral Home.

My prayers are for Marlon’s wife and children. I am so sorry to hear of his passing. Marlon was a super nice person and I had the pleasure of working with him at the LRCOG for 25 years. I don’t think I ever seen him without a smile on his face. May God comfort you during this time.
My deepest sympathy goes out to the Lowry family and friends. I had the opportunity to work with him 24 years at Lumber River COG and will cherish those memories forever. Marlon was a great person who will be deeply missed.
