Mr. Henry Braxton “Dickie” Chavis, 77, of 3530 Milledgeville Road, Augusta, Georgia, departed this life on Monday, January 25, 2021 at his home. He was born January 2, 1944 to Mr. James Calvin Chavis and Mrs. Myrtle Harding Chavis. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers: Mr. Roscoe and Thomas Chavis; and a sister: Ms. Maxine Chavis.
The graveside service with full military rites will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, January 30, 2021 at Stewartsville Cemetery; Stewartsville Cemetery Road, Laurinburg, NC with Revs: Horace Oxendine and Chester Chavis officiating.
Mr. Chavis is survived by his daughter: Ms. Teresa Chavis of Pembroke, NC; sisters: Ms. Annie Bell Chavis Baker of West Columbia, SC, Mrs. Maybell Chavis Elk (Ronnie) of Pembroke, NC; a brother: Mr. Larry Chavis of Pembroke, NC; several nieces and a host of relatives and friends.
Mr. Chavis Proudly served in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War Era.
