Mr. Deese was a grant writer for Native American Tribes. He was also a devoted caregiver for his mother and his brother-in-law, Kenneth. He was faithful to his church and his class. He was an avid student of history and his family’s heritage. As a conversationalist, he entertained his listeners with his many stories from the past. His stories were never dull, entailing every detail. When the family was searching for a lost fact, they would say, “let’s as Gary, he would know.” He loved his family and adopted all his nieces and nephews as his own children, providing words of wisdom handed down to him by his ancestors. Mr. Gary was an anchor for our family. When he accompanied us on trips and events, we were always entertained. We, his family, loved him dearly, and he will be sorely missed.
The family will receive friends from 2-3 p.m. Thursday, April 15, 2021 at Locklear & Son Funeral Home.
