FULTON “PAT” LOWERY

Mr. Fulton “Pat” Lowery, 88, of 12000 Deep Branch Road, Maxton was born March 13, 1932 to the late Mr. Neal Archie Lowry, Sr. and Mrs. Leola Locklear Lowry.  He departed this life on Wednesday, September 9, 2020 at Southeastern Hospice House in Lumberton, NC.  He was preceded in death by a daughter: Mrs. Bebe Carol Lowery Locklear (Ernest); five brothers: Mr. John D. Locklear, Mr. Benford Lowry, Sr., Mr. Marvin Lowry, Mr. Neal Lowry, Jr. and Mr. Walter Lowery; and two sisters: Mrs. Iona Oxendine and Mrs. Mary Della Collins.

The funeral will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday, September 13, 2020 at Locklear & Son Funeral Home Chapel with Revs. Bobby E. Locklear and Bros. Stephen Locklear and Louis Locklear officiating. Burial will follow in the Preston Cemetery.

Mr. Lowery served honorably from 1953-1955 in the United States Army during the Korean War.  He worked many years in construction hanging sheetrock.  He operated Red Banks Grocery/Pat’s Place from 1973 – 1994.  He worked at Woodard, Campbell Soup, retired from Butler Manufacturing in 2003, and at 71 years of age worked another year hanging sheetrock.

Mr. Lowery leaves behind to cherish his memory, Mrs. Annie Pearl Lowery, his wife of 63 years; his children: Mrs. Cynthia Oxendine (Terry), Mrs. Debbie Bullard (Phillip), and Mrs. Cheryl Lucas Hunt (Danny); a sister Ms. Annie Jarvie McGirt; six grandchildren: Mr. Patrick Jacobs (Kayla), Mrs. Chiara Carter (Jon), Ms. Shayla Locklear, Mr. Christopher Spurlock (Tiffany), Mr. Max Spurlock and Ms. Laylah Hunt; three great-grandchildren: Jaiden, Kinsley, and Riley; and a host of relatives and friends.

In life there are many heroes, but among all the heroes this world has ever had, there’s not one that we admired more than our precious Daddy–Pat to his friends.  He was heroic in his quiet strength and in his caring ways…a man of integrity. We will miss his quick wit…he was a good story teller and loved to rhyme.  Most of all he loved his family.  We celebrate his life and take comfort in knowing we will see him again.

The family will receive friends from 1-2 p.m. Sunday, September 13, 2020 at Locklear & Son Funeral Home.
