Obituaries


 

Mr. Henry Edward Teets

                                    Pembroke
     Mr. Henry Edward Teets, 79, of 819 Old Main Road, Pembroke, passed away at his home on Thursday, October 31, 2013. He was born in Washington D.C. on November 18, 1933 to the late Mr. Henry Ellsworth Teets and Mrs. Lula Teets Barnes. He is preceded in death by his foster family: Rev. & Mrs. Sam Habel and a devoted brother: Rev. Nick Habel of Lynchburg.
    
The funeral will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Sunday, November 3, 2013, at Berea Baptist Church with the Revs: Chris Hunt and Bruce Swett officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
    
Mr. Teets is survived by his wife of 53 years: Mrs. Mary Alice Teets of the home; two sons: Mr. Henry (Hank) Teets Jr. of Fairmont and Mr. Darryl Teets (Heather) of Pembroke; a brother: Mr. Gerald Bradley(JoAnn) of Pontotoc, Mississippi; a sister: Mrs. Loretta Escher(William) of Huntsville, Alabama; 4 grandchildren: Cody Teets, Darian Teets, Maggie Oxendine, and Abbie Teets; and a host of relatives and friends.
    
Mr. Teets was a devoted and faithful member of Berea Baptist Church, where he had served as a deacon and long time choir member. He had been a member of the Pembroke Kiwanis Club for 35 years, having served in many capacities including president. He graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, VA and received his MEd from Lynchburg College, Virginia. He taught in Clifton Forge, VA and retired from The Public Schools of Robeson County in 19911. He was a volunteer for the Boy Scout Troop 27 in Pembroke where he served as treasurer. He was faithful in everything he did: husband, father, teacher, scouter, and church member.
    
The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. Saturday, November 2, 2013, at Locklear & Son Funeral Home.
    
In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to the Boy Scouts Troop 27 C/O Berea Baptist Church, 120 Odum Street, Pembroke, NC  28372 or to the Berea Baptist Church.
