Mr. Timothy Strickland, Sr., 93, of 1294 Harpers Ferry Road, Maxton, departed this life on Wednesday, November 21, 2012 at Scotland Memorial Hospital in Laurinburg. He was born in Robeson County on November 11, 1919 and was the son of the late Mr. & Mrs. Alex Strickland. He was preceded in death by his wife of 72 years: Mrs. Ruthie Jane Strickland; two sons: Mr. Truman Strickland and Mr. Timothy Strickland, Jr.; a granddaughter: Ms. Tina Strickland; a great-grandson: Mr. Dustin Ramsay and four brothers: Mr. Silas Strickland, Mr. Purcell Strickland, Mr. James Strickland and Mr. Paul Strickland.
The funeral will be conducted 2:00 p.m., Sunday, November 25, 2012, at New Prospect Holiness Methodist Church with the Revs: Perry Roberts and Willie Scott, Jr. and Bro. Eugene Bryant officiating. Entombment will follow in the New Prospect Church Cemetery.
Surviving are his sons: Mr. Verlin Strickland of Matthews, Mr. Donald Strickland(Carolyn), Mr. Ronald Strickland(Sandra) both of Maxton and Mr. Gerald Strickland(Brenda) of Pembroke; daughters: Mrs. Sue Ann Maynor(Rabon), Mrs. Linda Tyler(Chester), Mrs. Marie Moore(Fredrick) all of Maxton and Mrs. Janice Grady(Stan) of High Point; honorary brother: Mr. Benjamin Strickland of Charlotte; two sisters: Ms. Katherine Wolinski of Maxton and Mrs. Martha Dial(Alvin) of Rowland; 23 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; 7 great-great-grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends.
The visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Saturday, November 24, 2012, at New Prospect Holiness Church.
